Heritage Home Restoration - Recreating Corbels
This beautiful corbel arrived, one of many belonging to a home in need of a renovation. High winds, heavy rainfall and a fallen tree destroyed many corbel details on a beautiful farm house not far from Toronto. After, accessing its condition and extent of the damage, the decision was made to reproduce a set of corbels for this heritage home.
The first step was to create a custom template to match the contours of the antique corbel. In order to duplicate the 3” thickness of the original corbel two pieces of wood were glued and clamped until dry. Using the template the corbel shape was templated and cut to create a matching set of six. Rough cuts were than plained to achieve the finished refined shape.
We love unique projects like this custom reproduction and can’t wait to see the installation. How can we help you?
